Prep early, I price as I pull things from each room and organize by Like items so set up is easier come the week of the garage sale
Color coding stickers (especially if you are having multiple families join)
If you are using paypal or venmo for acceptable forms of payment, print off your QR code so people can easily scan and pay you.
make it fun, play music and interact with your customers. They will stay longer and look around if they are engaged...more likely to close a sale.
make sure everything is clean and dust free, I make sure I display everything clean (think about would you look at it at a store if it were dirty?)
for clothes I hang and fold things - everything is organized by size and like items, I hang items early so that any wrinkles can fall out in the summer heat
And for the final tip/trick - set up a donation pick up after the Sale and have used DonateStuff.com, they partner with local charities that are doing good in your area.
